Full list of London roads set for 20mph limit as TfL plans to slow down drivers
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that it plans to introduce a 20mph speed limit on 65 kilometres of roads. The measure will include routes in eight boroughs - Greenwich , Kensington and Chelsea, Lewisham, Southwark , Wandsworth, Merton , Bromley and Lambeth. Bosses say the measure, to be introduced in stages over the last four months of the year, will ‘save lives’ and tackle speeding . They add that, by 2024, a further 140km of roads controlled by the authority , including 37 town centre locations, will have the same restriction on speed. Officials say that data collected between May 1, 2020, and June 20, 2022, 'when compared to a similar seasonally matched period before lower speed limits were implemented', shows the number of collisions fell by 25 per cent (from 405 to 304). In addition, incidents resulting in death or serious injury reportedly fell by 24 per cent (from 94 to 71). READ MORE: The staggering amount TfL made from ULEZ fines in just one year -...
