It's fair to say summer hasn't been all that we've hoped for this year. An incredible start in June was followed by long periods of rain and cloud throughout July and August while the rest of Europe basked in a record-breaking heatwave. Now we've stumbled into September with the hollow feeling that summer never quite reached the British Isles. But before you descend into complete despair you'll be glad to know there is a chance of recovery next week. From Monday (September 4) Londoners will be greeted by sunny skies for a week as the mercury reaches 27C. There is the chance the mercury could rise to 28C on Thursday as parks across the city will be packed as many soak in the late-summer sun, a ccording to the Met Office .
