Government’s new value for money tsar to be paid day rate of £950

The Government’s new value for money tsar will be paid a day rate of £950. David Goldstone will take up the position of chairman of the new Office for Value for Money, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced during her Budget statement. She said Mr Goldstone would “help us realise the benefits from every pound of public spending.” He will be in post for a year and is responsible for providing advice to the Chancellor and Chief Secretary to the Treasury to save money by reforming systems and improving policy outcomes. The role will be paid at a day rate of £950 and Mr Goldstone is expected to work a monthly average of one day a week. It is an independent role and he is not an employee of the Treasury. Mr Goldstone is also a non-executive director of the Submarine Delivery Agency and HS2 Ltd. The Metropolitan Police have issued a renewed appeal to help find a London mum and her seven-year-old son as they remain missing after 141 days. However, today (October 24), the pair were spotted for the first time in four months. Karima Mahmoud, 43, and Adam Glanville, aged seven, were seen on Monday, June 3 in Richmond. But today, after months of being unable to find the mum and son, the police received a new sighting of Karima. She was spotted near Bedfont Road in Feltham, West London. Slough boy, 16, dies after Datchet motorbike crash as police launch murder probe

A murder investigation is underway in Datchet following a fatal crash outside the Liquid Leisure Centre at 4.07pm on Saturday (October 19). Thames Valley Police officers arrived at the scene on Horton Road and found a motorbike had left the road and its two riders, both boys aged 16 and both from Slough , were seriously injured. A man in his 50s was stabbed in Enfield this afternoon (Friday, October 18). Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics scrambled to the scene on Mandeville Road junction with Ordnance Road after receiving calls about a stabbing at 1.54pm. Paramedics attended alongside the officers where they found the man suffering stab wounds. He was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital where he remains.
