Porn actor suitcase killer said 4 chilling words to fetish slave as he cut his throat in 'extreme' sex', court told

Image
A killer Colombian ‘porn performer’ said four words as he slashed the throat of his fetish slave during sex, hours after hammering the man’s civil partner to death and hiding him under a bed, a court has heard. Yostin Andres Mosquera, 35, is on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murdering Albert Alfonso, 62, originally from France, and Irishman Paul Longworth, 71, at their West London flat on July 8 last year. Video footage of Mr Alfonso’s final moments, which was caught by cameras set up to film his sex session with Mosquera at the flat in Shepherd’s Bush, was played to jurors on Wednesday (April 30). It is alleged Mosquera asked Mr Alfonso ‘Do you like it?’ as he repeatedly stabbed him in the neck, face, and torso, moments after urinating on him while wearing a strap-on penis. Mosquera - whose guilty plea to the manslaughter of Mr Alfonso was not accepted by the prosecution - is then alleged to have dismembered the bodies of the couple, storing their heads in a chest freezer, befo...

East London builder banned after lying about profits for £50k loan

Image
A builder has been banned as a company director for fraudulently claiming tens of thousands of pounds that his business was not entitled to claim. Ioan Marcu, 38, of Lindfield Road, Romford, inflated his company's turnover figures to secure the maximum £50,000 available under the Bounce Back Loan Scheme in 2020 as part of the Covid support fund. Following investigations by the Insolvency Service, Marcu was disqualified as a director for 10 years in January 2025. He has now signed a formal agreement to repay more than £38,000 - the difference between what his company legitimately qualified for and what it actually received. Marcu was the sole director of Imbusi Ltd, a company incorporated in August 2014. In July 2020, he applied for a £50,000 Bounce Back Loan, claiming his company had a turnover of £280,000. Investigation of the company's accounts revealed this figure was overstated by more than £230,000, and that Imbusi was only entitled to a loan of £11,451. Ann Oliver, ...

The heart-warming meaning behind Crystal Palace fan display during FA Cup semi-final

Image
Crystal Palace fans raised more than £13k to turn the stands of Wembley Stadium into a sea of red and blue during yesterday's FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa. The display - created using hundreds of paper boards - included the phrase 'Take my hand, take my whole life too' and a photo of a young boy clutching a club strip - but why? Well, the story begins in Croydon many years ago, when decades-long Palace fan Mr Sithole-Sadler bought his grandson Ethan his first season ticket at just three years old. Soon, trips to Selhurst Park become a ritual for the pair. Ethan's Grandma Jane said: "His grandad took him, even though he was a gentleman who was born here in Croydon. He was white. But that colour never showed. He was Grandad to Ethan from the day he was born, and they had a very strong bond.” Soon Ethan was the Palace-obsessed boy that his Grandad had always longed for. He and his wife had taken on their then 5-year-old grandson full-time after Ethan...

Bungling West London burglar caught after blood smears left at raided homes

Image
An Ealing burglar who worked with a buddy to raid 13 homes across Surrey and Kent was caught because the bungling duo left DNA, smears of blood, matching footwear patterns and always broke into homes in the same way. Drilon Merkohitoj, from Ealing , and Ervis Vela, from Kent, have now been jailed. They carried out a spate of burglaries between December 2023 and March 2024, deliberately travelling for miles from where they lived to break into homes and steal thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and valuables. The hunt was on after one of the pair left a snood with DNA on in a recovered vehicle, which led to a further trail of evidence which included blood smears left at crime scenes, CCTV footage, matching footwear patterns, number plate hits, and mobile phone signal tracking. Cops found the thieves had used the same vehicle. One wore the same distinctive black and red trainers, and they both targeted similar types of homes. Ervis Vela, 30, was sentenced to three years ...

Transport for London (TfL) has announced London Underground and Overground stations may be forced to set up queueing systems on Saturday (April 26). They are both a 30-minute walk from the stadium. Bruce Grove, Silver Street and White Hart Lane are closer to the venue, but their smaller size and less frequent services means attendees may need to wait longer to board a train. Statues vandalised during London trans rights protest as police hunt for witnesses

Image
Seven statues were vandalised in Parliament Square during a trans rights protest yesterday (Saturday, April 19). Police are appealing for witnesses after the statues were defaced with graffiti. No arrests have been made in connection with the criminal damage. Photos from the protest at Parliament Square showed the phrase "f*g rights" and a heart were daubed on a statue of suffragette Millicent Fawcett, while "trans rights are human rights" was sprayed on the pedestal of a bronze of ex-South African Prime Minister Jan Christian Smuts. The protests were in response to a landmark Supreme Court ruling that decreed trans women did not legally classify as women in the Equality Act 2010. The use of "men" and "women" in the act was ruled to refer to those born as men and women, and that "sex" was binary. This ruling means that trans women can legally be excluded from women-only spaces like changing rooms, toilets and women's sports in th...

New London pub and café map shows which ones are currently in the sun

Image
A Reddit user has created a brilliant new website that tells you which pubs and cafes are currently in the sunlight and which are hidden in shade. There's nothing worse than getting to a pub garden and expecting it to be filled with warm, sunny vibes, but as you sit down with your pint, a chilly breeze dashes your hopes and dreams. With Reddit user Dawodx's new website sunnydays.dawodx.com , you can enjoy the sun this summer. The web app creates a real-time shadow simulation, replicating how buildings and terrain cast shadows through the day using a programme called Mapbox and open data from OpenStreetMap. "You can find the sunniest spots around you — and skip the cold corners," Dawodx said in a post on the social media platform. He added: "It’s finally sunny in London, and like most people, I wanted to enjoy an iced coffee or a pint in the actual sun — not tucked away in the shade." Looking at the interactive map, you can set the time of day as you like...

‘I got a fresh curry from a London post office and it was better than most takeaways’

Image
You can usually count on a post office for stamps, bills, and parcels, not for lunch. But there’s a post office in central London where you can walk out with a curry instead of a receipt. From the outside, Moorgate Post Office looks like any other - until you notice the sign advertising curry from £6.99. Inside, turn right and you’ll spot a freezer, a drinks fridge, and then a small counter dishing out fresh, fragrant food. The smell hits you immediately, and is enough to reel you in - warm spices and sizzling street food fill the air. The prices help too, as they are cheap for central London. There's so many curries to choose from! (Image: MyLondon) They’re serving samosas, spring rolls, Chinese dishes, South Asian curries, and freshly grilled wraps. And the food doesn’t come from a microwave - it's made in a kitchen they have in the basement, which I had no idea could even fit there. This all started in 2021 when postmaster Dewan Zaky Ashrafi brought t...

Stansted Airport flight fell 600 feet without the pilots noticing as they forgot to put on autopilot

Image
A Boeing plane heading into Stansted Airport fell 600ft through the air before either pilot noticed. An autopilot miscommunication caused the commercial flight from Szczecin Airport, in Poland, to descend suddenly on March 8, 2024. The co-pilot had missed the first manual approach so handed control to the commander whilst they set up the flight management computer. However, the commander did not realise the autopilot and auto-thrust were not engaged and failed to realise the rapid drop. The 43-year-old told air traffic control that he "had control", with the co-pilot agreeing with this statement over the communication channel. Upon realising his mistake, he promptly brought the aircraft back to 3,000ft before taking over the second landing attempt. The unplanned descent saw the plane come within a helicopter that also attempting to land at Stansted During the investigation, it was revealed the flight was the co-pilot's first time handing over manual control. Huge 35-storey South London tower with 143 flats next to London Heliport moves forward

Image
Plans to build a gigantic 35-storey tower next to London's only licensed heliport are moving forward, as an application has now been submitted for the development. Developer Heliport London Ltd has lodged a planning application for the scheme with Wandsworth Council. The proposed tower on Lombard Road, by the River Thames , would contain 143 flats, if it was approved by the council. It would also have workspace, a gym for residents and a play area on its lower floors. It would be the tallest building in Battersea , replacing an empty five-story office building, known as Heliport House, and two industrial garages. The council approved plans to add a 15-storey tower on top of Heliport House in 2014, with no affordable homes , but this was never built. The latest scheme proposes a much bigger tower containing 51 affordable homes, out of 143 homes overall. Facebook users in Europe must opt out of having their content used to train Meta's AI

Image
Meta, the social media giant that owns Facebook and Instagram, has announced it will resume using publicly available content from European users to train its artificial intelligence models. This decision comes after the company paused this activity last year due to data privacy concerns raised by activists. The firm stated it would utilise public posts and comments shared by adult users across the 27-member European Union to train its AI systems. Meta also announced plans to inform EU users about the AI training process, providing a link to a form where objections can be submitted at any point. In a blog post, the company explained: "People's interactions with Meta AI - like questions and queries - will also be used to train and improve our models." It added: "We'll honour all objection forms." This move follows the recent launch of Meta's AI assistant for European users, which had been previously introduced in the US and other major markets. State of River Thames delays Boat Race by 10 minutes - this time it wasn't water safety concerns

Image
The state of the River Thames had an unexpected impact on the 2025 Oxford Vs Cambridge Boat Race but it did not stop the light blues completing a clean sweep in the men's women’s and both reserve races. This time it wasn't pollution in the water - although that had again been a concern in the build up - but instead a plank of wood in the way of the racing route. The men's race between the university teams was set to start 2:21pm on Sunday (April 13) but the crews were left waiting in the water for 10 minutes after 'debris', which turned out to be a plank of wood, was spotted and had to be cleared out of the racing line of the boats. It was expected to be a tight battle in the 170th men’s edition, but instead the light blue boat built up an early lead and never looked back, shocking an Oxford boat stacked with several Olympians. Cambridge made it eight straight wins in the 79th women’s competition, also the 10th anniversary of the men’s and women’s races taking p...
