A body was found in the search for the Kent pub shooter on Friday, March 7. The identity has not been formally confirmed but the man's family has been informed.
Kent Police were searching for the man, Edvard Stockings or Smith, after Lisa Smith, 43, was shot dead on Valentine's Day in Knockholt.
She was killed outside the Three Horseshoes pub. The suspect was known to Lisa and later that evening, Kent officers found his car abandoned on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, said the force. A gun was found inside the car. It is not yet clear whether the gun was legally owned.
They said he had fallen into the Thames below. The specific circumstances have not yet been confirmed. The body was found near Rainham, Essex.
The landlady of The Three Horseshoes Michelle Thomas described customers “screaming, shouting and crying” as they realised what had happened.
She told Sky News that she was preparing for the Valentine’s dinner service when she heard two loud bangs that she initially thought were fireworks.
About 30 people were at the pub for dinner, while 20 more were in the bar as the incident unfolded just after 7pm, she said.
“People were only just starting to sit down, it was early on in the evening,” she told Sky.
