Popeyes announces opening date for brand new Croydon branch

Popeyes have revealed the opening date for their new Croydon branch. It will be the chain's 14th London location, and their 6th opening for dine-in.

The Croydon branch is set to open on October 12, marking the 15th opening in 2023 and the 32nd since Popeyes arrived in the UK in 2021. Best known for their chicken sandwich, Popeyes prides itself on marinating chicken for 12 hours and combining it with American classics.

Bringing the spirit of New Orleans to Croydon, Popeyes will be rolling out the orange carpet on launch day. They'll have a Mardi Gras-style band playing The Brass Funkeys as the first customers come through the doors, and the first three customers will receive free chicken sandwiches for a year.

On top of that, the first 25 customers will get a free chicken sandwich and Popeyes merchandise. At recent openings, customers have queued for up to 18 and a half hours to savour the chicken.

Earlier this week, the opening of the Barrhead location saw customers queuing from 4.30pm the day before - Popeyes anticipates similar scenes in Croydon. Tom Crowley, CEO at Popeyes UK, said: “We are thrilled to announce that a new Popeyes restaurant will be opening in Croydon next month.

"A hub filled with unique identity, Croydon has been a key location for us since we first landed in the UK, and we’re looking forward to bringing the spirit of New Orleans to the borough. Our most recent openings have been some of the most successful to date, not just in the UK but for Popeyes globally, and we expect that Croydon will be equally as popular.”

You can find Popeyes Croydon at 43 George St, Croydon CR0 1LB, with seating for up to 76 guests for dine-in, with an additional 24 seats available outside, and takeaway service for those on the go. You can also find Popeyes on Deliveroo.
