New photos of Sara Sharif show what 10-year-old looked like in weeks before death

Police investigating the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif have released a new set of pictures they believe better illustrates how Sara looked in the weeks leading up to her death when she was found at her home south of London in Woking on August 10.

Officers investigating the death are trying to build a picture of her life and hope the new images will prompt more members of the public to come forward with information about Sara and her family.

Since her death police have been engaging with community leaders and distributing leaflets in the Woking area asking for help from the community with the case.

The appeals have also been translated into Urdu both written and verbally in video format to reach residents in the area who speak it as a first language.

Officers fluent in Urdu are also supporting the investigation to translate material and information provided to them by members of the public.

Despite a number of enquiries being generated though, police say they still need to hear from more people and say any information no matter how insignificant could help them piece together more of Sara's life and help the case.

Detective Superintendent Mark Chapman, from the Surrey Police and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, said: “We have released these new images this week in the hope that it will prompt more people who knew Sara and her family to come forward.

“We are grateful to everyone who has already contacted us, and I would like to stress that any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, is reviewed by the investigation team and further enquiries carried out if appropriate. I would urge anyone who may have information and hasn’t yet come forward to reach out to us.

“There are a number of ways you can do this - you can report information via our portal, which is in both English and Urdu, you can call 101 if you would prefer to speak on the phone, or if you would like to remain anonymous, call the independent charity Crimestoppers.”

To report information, you can visit Surrey police's online portal or report information in Urdu at the translated portal. To report information anonymously, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
