EastEnders exit 'sealed' for fan favourite as Denise Fox drops bombshell
EastEnders dropped a bombshell for Chelsea Fox on Monday (October 14) as her mum Denise unveiled a massive secret about the club crush.
Back in August, a near-death crush at Peggy's resulted in several locals getting injured including Lauren Branning (portrayed by Jacqueline Jossa) and Amy Branning (Ellie Dadd) - who experienced a cardiac arrest and is now paralysed.
The bar manager Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) was immediately held responsible for the incident, causing her father Jack (Scott Maslen) to act frostily towards her.
However, it was Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) who caused the bar to be overcrowded when she sold extra tickets to the event as part of a revenge scheme against Penny. Denise Fox (Diane Parish) has been aware of the truth for weeks but has begun to rekindle her relationship with estranged husband Jack.
In the latest visit to Walford, it was the morning after for Denise who had spent the night with Jack and was treated to breakfast, reports the Daily Star.
She was informed that the CCTV footage from Peggy's was entirely corrupted, implying there would be no evidence to exonerate Penny.
Jack reminded Denise that their divorce hadn't been finalised yet and suggested they consider reconciliation, but Chelsea was upset when she saw her mum leaving Jack's house.
Chelsea feared that Denise might reveal her involvement in the crush, but Denise assured her daughter that there was no evidence against her.
Amy had a tough time at her physio session and tensions flared when Penny turned up at the hospital, leading to a heated exchange.
Jack's frosty attitude towards Penny didn't help matters, clearly taking Amy's side in the family drama.
Feeling ostracised by her relatives, Penny made the decision to leave Walford for Paris, even with a police investigation hanging over her head. Her romantic interest, Harry Mitchell (played by Elijah Holloway), tried to persuade her to stay, but Penny was resolute in her decision.
Back at home, Jack and Denise came together, doing their best to support Amy in her recovery, but the atmosphere was shattered when Penny revealed her intention to depart from the Square.
The Branning household erupted into conflict as Amy kept pointing the finger at Penny for causing her injuries, and despite Denise's efforts to mediate, the situation escalated.
The Branning family found themselves at breaking point, and overwhelmed by guilt, Denise felt compelled to come clean and confirm that Penny had been truthful all along about not being responsible for the accident.
"It wasn't her that caused the crush, that put you in the hospital," Denise confessed. "It was Chelsea."
With the police already probing the incident, questions arise: Will Chelsea's liberty be jeopardized? And will Jack take it upon himself to arrest Chelsea for the mishap?
EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
