Teenage boy arrested after crashing moped on busy East Dulwich street following police chase
A teenager has been rushed to hospital with a head injury after crashing the moped he was riding. It happened during a police chase on Lordship Lane, in East Dulwich, on Saturday afternoon (February 10).
The 16-year-old was detained after the crash by police. He was taken to hospital with a head injury, however his injuries were deemed to be non life-threatening.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 3.40pm on Saturday, February 10 a male was arrested in Lordship Lane following a police pursuit. The 16-year-old youth, who crashed a moped he was travelling on, was detained with a large knife.
"Before being taken to custody, he was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury. His condition has been assessed as non life-threatening. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, taking and driving away a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner and failing to stop for police." The London Ambulance Service was contacted for comment.
In a separate incident on the same day, Met Police officers were alerted to a stabbing on Green Lane in Ilford at 7.13am. There they found the victim, a man in his 20s. He was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed to be non life-threatening.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched following a stabbing in Green Lane, Ilford. We were called to the area following reports that a man, aged in his 20s was suffering with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains. His injuries have been assessed as not life threatening."
