One of the best airport restaurants in the world is in London and it is... a Wetherspoons

A London Airport has had one of its restaurants named among the 10 best you'll find at any airport in the world in a new survey based on the average reviews received by every international airport in the world.

You may be surprised to read though that neither Heathrow nor Gatwick were the lone London travel hub to make it into the list, which was put together using research conducted by travel experts at The Family Vacation Guide.

Using the average rating received by Airport restaurants across Google, TripAdvisor, and Yelp, they were able to create an average score out of five for every eatery, with just one restaurant at North London's Stansted Airport making the cut.

The Windmill is the eighth highest rated airport restaurant in the world

According to the data with an average score of four out of five across all reviews, The Windmill at Stansted Airport is the eighth best airport restaurant you can eat at in the entire world.

A traditional airport gastropub, it may come as a shock for you to find out that The Windmill is actually a JD Wetherspoon pub, though its layout and impressive design and decoration certainly set it apart from your local 'Spoons boozer.

The pub's name harks back to the windmills once common across the local area, with this reflected in the design which sees a huge windmill tower placed at the centre of the restaurant, with a ground floor seating area and more places to sit on a mezzanine level around the edges of the vast room.

The pub has a bit more to it than your usual 'Spoon's

A theme throughout reviews of the pub is the greeting service by staff who make sure you find a seat and serve you at the table.

One reviewer wrote on TripAdvisor: "One of the best Wetherspoons and without doubt the best café bar in Stansted Airport. Food and drink is good certainly good value but what makes it the best spot before boarding is the staff. Helpful, fun and genuinely kind. Brilliant place for a pre-flight bite!"

An airport pub breakfast with a pint before a summer holiday has become something of a tradition for British holidaymakers so this may well be the best place you can go to get your vacation started.
