Live Notting Hill Carnival updates including line-up, weather and parade as thousands line the streets for Family Day
This weekend sees the return of Notting Hill Carnival. The festivities began in West London yesterday (August 26) and run through until late on Bank Holiday Monday (August 28).
Around two million people attend every year, making it one of the world's largest street festivals, with delicious Caribbean food, dancing and music all weekend. Notting Hill Carnival has been running since 1966, recognising the incredible influence, culture and heritage of London's British Caribbean community.
Today is Family Day, a completely free-to-attend event, that sees celebrations start at 6am, as is tradition. The Official Opening Ceremony took place at 10am today at MAS Judging Point, Great Western Road.
Following this will be the Children’s Day Parade, Dutty/Fun Mas, and Sounds Systems from 12pm to 7pm. There will also be two live stages - Sosa City at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park, and Powis Square Stage at Powis Square. Both will run from 12pm to 7pm.
